Ian Collier

11 Jan 2025

Mental health awareness charity Opening Up Cricket links up with challenge.

Hitting 50 is delighted to be joining forces with Opening Up Cricket – an organisation that provides free mental health and suicide prevention sessions for cricket clubs, schools, and other groups.

Ian says: “Mental health is an issue very close to my heart and I’m so happy we can work with Opening Up Cricket to support them and help them continue their amazing work.”

Opening Up Cricket was formed in 2014 in response to the death of Sefton Park CC wicketkeeper Alex Miller and a will to promote positive mental health in our sport.

Alex took his own life in December 2012.

His club colleagues started Opening Up with the aim of speaking to local cricketers about the experience of losing Alex in the hope that more conversations about this topic could prevent further tragedies.

They have delivered hundreds of FREE sessions across the UK and Australia.
